Preakness 2011 | Jockey John Velazquez talks up Animal Kingdom

BALTIMORE — Jockey John Velazquez, trying to win his first Preakness two weeks after taking his first Kentucky Derby, said that if Animal Kingdom runs and reacts the same way Saturday at Pimlico that he did at Churchill Downs, “he'll be very tough.”

“He was so calm, even with all the hoopla and people and everything,” Velazquez said Friday. “He showed no stress. He was really relaxed and really confident in himself.

“He'd never run on the dirt, but he ran like he'd run on the dirt 20 times. He handled everything really well. Every time I asked him to do something, he was there for me. When I held my position, he was there for me. When I pulled him out, he ran. If he does that, he'll be a really, really tough horse to beat.”

Velazquez would be the first jockey to ride Animal Kingdom twice, but he isn't taking anything for granted. After all, Robby Albarado was scheduled to ride the colt in the Derby but was replaced the day before after sustaining facial fractures earlier in the week.

May 21, 2011 End Of The World

Circled dates dot a calendar on John Ramsey's refrigerator door. They show the busy life of a 25-year-old: dinner parties, birthdays, holidays. But only until May 21 is Judgement Day.

Every month after May has been crossed out. As has all of 2012.

Ramsey is one of thousands of followers of a loose-knit Christian fringe movement whose members are increasingly found on sidewalks,Harold Camping parks and at transit hubs in major cities throughout the United States.

They recite passages of the Bible line-by-line and say they have decoded a message for humanity: The world is about to end.

"God says when you see the sword come upon the land, you blow the trumpet and you warn the people," says Ramsey, paraphrasing Ezekiel 33:3. "All I'm doing is telling what I know."

Charlie Sheen Replacement

Ashton Kutcher, the former ‘That 70′s Show’ and ‘Punk’d’ star has officially won after he agreed to join ‘Two and a Half Men’ as Charlie Sheen’s replacement. Kutcher has finalized his contract and will be on “Two and a Half Men” next season.

Ashton Kutcher replaces Charlie Sheen, who, after having helped make the show the number one comedy on television, was fired for a long set of rants against the series’ creator, Chuck Lorre creator and executive producer of "Two and a Half Men," said in the statement. "Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it'd be illegal

The confirmation comes a little more than 12 hours after reports that Kutcher was inking a deal for the job. He has since gone on to mount a very public life with his porn star girlfriends, continuing to rail against Lorre and CBS in his “Violent Torpedo of Truth” road show. Whoever made this choice is driven more by personal difference with Sheen and not by the success of the show. Misguided egos will ruin a perfectly good show.

Google’s Chrome OS Book

This week at Google’s I/O developer conference, the company announced the general availability of two Chrome OS Laptops. Both Best Buy and Amazon will be selling the devices made by Acer and Samsung.

When Google announced the OS, all they had to demonstrate the truest form of Chrome OS on was their CR-48 reference prototype, which was never intended for sale. It was attractively minimal, but didn’t pack much of a punch when it came to its guts. Acer and Samsung have stepped in to solve this problem.

The Samsung “Chrome Book” will have a 12.1 inch display and have integrated WiFi and Verizon 3G and will be priced at $429. The Acer device will only be $349 but will be WiFi only and have an 11.6 inch screen. Both devices tout long battery life and are optimized for accessing content out of the cloud.

Is May 21 Judgement Day?

It is more than just rumor that Jesus will return for Judgement Day on May 21st 2011.  Here at Judgement Day 2011, and around the world at other pro- May 21 Rapture organizations, we prepare as the Second Coming of Jesus inches closer.

If this is in part or completely how you feel, let me say, I can understand. There have been many end of the world date-setters in history, and they have all, to date, been proven wrong, except, of course, Noah who knew exactly when the world would end (Gen. 6:3; 7:4).

Camping previously cited September 6, 1994 as the day when Christ would return and the end of the world would begin. When that didn’t happen he changed his mind and looked toward 2011 instead. Which is handy.
