Federer To Meet Tipsarevic In Third Round

Third seed Roger Federer cruised past French wild card Maxime Teixeira 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 on Wednesday for a place in the Roland Garros third round.

Federer won 13 straight games through to 4-0 in the third set before Grand Slam debutant Teixeira held serve, much to the delight of the Court Suzanne Lenglen crowd.

The 2009 champion, appearing in his 46th straight Grand Slam championship, dropped 15 points on serve and hit 33 winners, including seven aces for history in 84 minutes. It was Federer's 30th win this season (30-7 overall).
"It's so difficult to come out and play on a big court when you are not used to it," said Federer. "I'm playing here for the 12th year and I'm very experienced."

Teixiera, who won his first tour-level match over Vincent Millot in the first round, said, "To play against Roger is an incredible experience. I'll never forget it and it will be great memories."

Federer takes a 3-0 record against No. 29 seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia in the third round. The pair has never met before on a clay court. Tipsarevic committed just 13 unforced errors in rolling past Spaniard Pere Riba 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.

Seventh seed David Ferrer, who has reached three ATP World Tour clay-court finals this year (1-2), defeated Julien Benneteau of France 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in just under two hours for his 200th career clay-court win (200-92 overall).

The 29-year-old Ferrer has reached the Roland Garros quarter-finals on two previous occasions in 2005 (l. to Nadal) and 2008 (l. to Monfils). He has an 18-5 match record on red dirt this season.

Ferrer will next face Ukrainian No. 31 seed Sergiy Stakhovsky, who ousted Kei Nishikori of Japan 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3) in two hours and 48 minutes. Stakhovsky won 26 of 40 net approaches and dominated on serve.
